30.06 I could have Dansked all night
Posted by Simon on Wednesday 30 June 2010
So Mark and I are over in Aarhus. Haven’t heard of it? Hopefully you will do soon as they’re a new client of ours. Aarhus is Denmark’s second biggest city and is situated on the east coast of Jutland.

Anyway, last night we were taken for dinner by an assembly of the city’s latest and greatest – business leaders and opinion formers from leading institutions across the region. Watching the evening unfold got me thinking about how important the dining occasion is when it comes to projects like this. We’d spent the day on a conveyer belt of meet and greets, listening intently asking questions where appropriate – all very useful and thought provoking stuff. But get some good grub in the belly and some good vino in the veins and suddenly the stories you hear take on a new dimension and as well as the X-axis of logic you get the Y-axis of passion. Raised voices, raised arms, raised eyebrows it doesn’t matter what the point is that’s being made, when the setting becomes informal, every aspect of the discussion becomes heightened.

So if someone at HMRC is listening, let’s make client entertainment tax deductable again.
